Muinami is Stephen’s family name, meaning “those who work,” while Nawiri means “prosperity”—both suit the place. At roughly 1,900 meters, with forest interspersed and brisk overnight temperatures for much of the year, there is a palpably cooler microclimate here than elsewhere in the West. Of the 26 acres, about 14 are under coffee, with the balance dedicated to agroforestry, beekeeping, nursery space, and the broader farm system that Stephen and his farm manager, Linet, continue to build out.\n\nStephen is also the founder of the West of Rift Farmers’ Caucus, first convening a small group of producers in 2023 around shared frustrations with rising costs, inconsistent milling, and opaque export systems, and around the shared goal of direct export. Growing pains notwithstanding, the Caucus continues to expand, and its effects have reached beyond the field as well. Through a community-led development incubation project with The Chain Collaborative, several Muinami team members have already received support and funding for projects of their own beyond the estate.\n\nPerhaps unsurprisingly, Muinami is one of the most exacting operations in the Caucus, with honey, natural, and extended-washed lots all handled with exceptional rigor and backed by an admirably dense paper trail.","brand":"Showroom Coffee","offers":[{"title":"2 lb $21.62 ($10.81\/lb)","offer_id":46063296086076,"sku":"INV05059-2","price":21.62,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"10 lb $99.70 ($9.97\/lb)","offer_id":46063296118844,"sku":"INV05059-10","price":99.7,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"33 lb $304.59 ($9.23\/lb)","offer_id":46063296151612,"sku":"INV05059-33","price":304.59,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"66 lb $579.48 ($8.78\/lb)","offer_id":46063296184380,"sku":"INV05059-66","price":579.48,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"Full Bag (66.14lbs) $536.40 ($8.11\/lb)","offer_id":46063296217148,"sku":"INV05059-full","price":536.4,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0719\/5253\/1516\/files\/Muinami-Estate-Ruiru-Honey-Sc.-15-30KG.png?v=1785163651"},{"product_id":"jkt-itende-youth-camp-pb-washed","title":"JKT Itende Youth Camp, PB Washed","description":"JKT stands for Jeshi la Kujenga, the Swahili name for the Tanzanian National Youth Service, a division of the national Army. Most plots measure only 1–2 hectares, with none larger than 5, and nearly all are within walking distance of the washing station—though trucks and motorbikes run during harvest to ensure cherry is pulped within eight hours of picking.\n\nAt harvest, the pulper runs from late afternoon until sundown. The government-granted Penagos UCBE 500 is eco-efficient and conserves water—a critical factor in this area, where seasonal dryness drives ongoing conversations about damming a local river or building a reservoir. Processing is meticulous: all cherry or parchment is hand-sorted, pulped, fermented for 10–12 hours, washed, and dried on raised beds for 7–10 days.\n\nIyenga’s board has earned a reputation for capable management, pairing reliable collection services with strict pulping standards. More recently, they have set their sights on quality: in 2019, Iyenga won the Taste of Harvest competition with their AA and PB coffees. Their first couple of seasons were challenging, with drought wiping out the majority of their starter seedlings, but this pushed them toward a more deliberate, irrigation-intensive model that today covers 17 acres across three blocks, planted mostly with Batian, some Ruiru 11, and with Cordia and Grevillea providing shade. \n\nTai Agri is one of the farms that we came to know through the West of Rift Farmers' Caucus, where John Cherogony (owner) and Valentine Togom (manager) were early participants. Their early adoption is reflected in the farm's tidy organization from the field to the washing station and in Valentine's keen attention to detail—her pruner always in hand and often put to use during our February 2026 visit. \n\nDespite Batian's strong reputation in the cup, Valentine was among the only farmers who also spoke highly of it in the field—saying that while Ruiru 11 is fuller and steadier, Batian, with its taller, ganglier, Christmas tree-esque silhouette is easier to read, making troubleshooting more intuitive and improvement that much more rewarding.","brand":"Showroom Coffee","offers":[{"title":"2 lb $20.54 ($10.27\/lb)","offer_id":46063295037500,"sku":"INV05052-2","price":20.54,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"10 lb $94.30 ($9.43\/lb)","offer_id":46063295070268,"sku":"INV05052-10","price":94.3,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"33 lb $286.77 ($8.69\/lb)","offer_id":46063295103036,"sku":"INV05052-33","price":286.77,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"66 lb $543.84 ($8.24\/lb)","offer_id":46063295135804,"sku":"INV05052-66","price":543.84,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"Full Bag (132.28lbs) $1001.36 ($7.57\/lb)","offer_id":46063295168572,"sku":"INV05052-full","price":1001.36,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0719\/5253\/1516\/files\/Tai-Agric-Estate-Washed-Sc.-15-plus.png?v=1785164177"},{"product_id":"muinami-estate-batian-natural-sc-15-30kg","title":"Muinami Estate Batian Natural, Sc. 15+ (30KG)","description":"Muinami Estate is the local name for what Stephen Nendela himself calls Nawiri, the 26-acre farm in the Cherangani Hills that he began rebuilding after the success of a smaller six-acre sugarcane-to-coffee conversion he started with his mother near Eldoret in 2015. In its place stands a modest offshoot, around which brothers Paul and Gabriel Wabuge have planted nearly 30 acres of coffee.\n\nThe farm itself was purchased by their father in 1970 from a British family that had already established some coffee plantings, but gradually the area leaned harder into maize and wheat as coffee prices fell, and Big Tree followed suit. When Paul and Gabriel returned to Kitale in 2019 to take over from their father—a former Kenyan ambassador to the U.S. during the Reagan administration—they had coffee on the mind. Paul, a doctor by profession, had spent time in Murang’a in the Central Highlands, where seeing coffee taken seriously kindled a curiosity about what might still be possible back home. Bilha, the brothers’ childhood nanny, became the farm manager, and has been central to that rebuilding from the start.\n\nSince then, the Wabuges have added roughly a block of coffee each year. Each one is prepared meticulously, with generous spacing, deep planting holes, and heavy manure applications from the outset. Through a community-led development incubation project with The Chain Collaborative, several Muinami team members have already received support and funding for projects of their own beyond the estate.\n\nPerhaps unsurprisingly, Muinami is one of the most exacting operations in the Caucus, with honey, natural, and extended-washed lots all handled with exceptional rigor and backed by an admirably dense paper trail.","brand":"Showroom Coffee","offers":[{"title":"2 lb $20.42 ($10.21\/lb)","offer_id":67641028968508,"sku":"INV04680-2","price":20.42,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"10 lb $93.70 ($9.37\/lb)","offer_id":67641029001276,"sku":"INV04680-10","price":93.7,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"33 lb $284.79 ($8.63\/lb)","offer_id":67641029034044,"sku":"INV04680-33","price":284.79,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"66 lb $539.88 ($8.18\/lb)","offer_id":67641029066812,"sku":"INV04680-66","price":539.88,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"Full Bag (132.28lbs) $993.42 ($7.51\/lb)","offer_id":67641029099580,"sku":"INV04680-full","price":993.42,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0719\/5253\/1516\/files\/Muinami-Estate-P2-Extended-Ferment-Washed-Sc.-16.png?v=1785164701"},{"product_id":"little-swamps-estate-washed-sc-15","title":"Little Swamps Estate Washed Sc. 15+","description":"Though most are sufficiently charmed by the name alone, absolutely no one leaves Little Swamps without raving about Doris Tuiyott and her management duo of Gideon of Philemon. Together they make a quiet, composed, humble, and yet brutally exacting trio, one whose curiosity and discipline have helped the estate quickly build a pristine reputation among both neighboring farmers and roasters half a world away. Sitting at roughly 2,200 meters, with the Cherangani Hills behind it and perfectly spaced Batian trees forming corridors throughout, Little Swamps offers a postcard-caliber snapshot of what makes western Kenya’s high plateaus and fertile soils so promising. As realized as this vision already feels, by the spring of 2026 still only about a third of the farm's total 45 acres are dedicated to coffee—leaving plenty of room to grow.\n\nPreviously planted with wheat and barley, Little Swamps was revitalized and optimized for coffee through irrigation from its eponymous nutrient-rich wetland, careful manure application, and an open-door approach to knowledge sharing. Early on, Doris built a core team of women from the surrounding community, helping with school fees and household needs alongside standard compensation. She has spoken of building a seedling nursery and training center on the farm, and while Little Swamps already serves as a beacon for friends and neighbors, Doris remains just as engaged in finding opportunities to keep learning herself, alongside Gideon and Philemon. Their continued participation in the West of Rift Farmers' Caucus ensures a high bar for engagement, and we look forward to what she will continue building in the seasons ahead.","brand":"Showroom Coffee","offers":[{"title":"2 lb $22.84 ($11.42\/lb)","offer_id":67641028771900,"sku":"INV04679-2","price":22.84,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"10 lb $105.80 ($10.58\/lb)","offer_id":67641028804668,"sku":"INV04679-10","price":105.8,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"33 lb $324.72 ($9.84\/lb)","offer_id":67641028837436,"sku":"INV04679-33","price":324.72,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"66 lb $619.74 ($9.39\/lb)","offer_id":67641028870204,"sku":"INV04679-66","price":619.74,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"Full Bag (132.28lbs) $1153.48 ($8.72\/lb)","offer_id":67641028902972,"sku":"INV04679-full","price":1153.48,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0719\/5253\/1516\/files\/Little-Swamps-Estate-Washed-Sc.-15.png?v=1785164721"},{"product_id":"ibonia-estate-week-15-pb-washed","title":"Ibonia Estate Week 15 PB Washed","description":"Located only three miles from Kiambu Town, Ibonia Estate spans nearly 200 hectares - 60% of which is natural forest, wetlands, rivers and wildlife. The name Elto carries a dual meaning in Sidama—“abundance” and “more than passion”—spotlighting their ambition and their ethos at once.","brand":"Showroom Coffee","offers":[{"title":"2 lb $22.26 ($11.13\/lb)","offer_id":67641024970812,"sku":"INV04469-2","price":22.26,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"10 lb $102.90 ($10.29\/lb)","offer_id":67641025003580,"sku":"INV04469-10","price":102.9,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"33 lb $315.15 ($9.55\/lb)","offer_id":67641025036348,"sku":"INV04469-33","price":315.15,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"66 lb $600.60 ($9.10\/lb)","offer_id":67641025069116,"sku":"INV04469-66","price":600.6,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"Full Bag (132.28lbs) $1115.12 ($8.43\/lb)","offer_id":67641025101884,"sku":"INV04469-full","price":1115.12,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0719\/5253\/1516\/files\/Elto-Coffee-Bare-Site-Outgrowers-1.png?v=1785164950"},{"product_id":"habtamu-fikadu-aga-jejeba-outgrowers-washed-g1","title":"Habtamu Fikadu Aga, Jejeba Outgrowers, Washed, G1","description":"Habtamu Fikadu Aga (trading as Kuri Mountain Coffee) was founded in 2015 by Aaga Dinsa, the grandson of a coffee farmer in Kuri Kebele. Today the organization spans 105 hectares planted in Kuri Kebele, plus 837 hectares total including the farms of 144 registered outgrowers. These outgrowers deliver cherry to washing stations owned or managed by the company across Wolega, Guji, and Jimma.\n\nOutgrowers in Jejeba deliver cherries to their local collection point, where they are then processed at the Jejeba washing station. The workflow mirrors the wider system: pulping, a 48–72 hour submerged fermentation depending on ambient temperature, washing followed by a secondary 12-hour soak, and drying on raised beds for 10–12 days. \n\nThe company is certified organic (Ecocert) and holds Fair for Life certification. Through Fair for Life, they contribute US $0.12 per pound on exports plus 5% of company profits into a development fund, which is reinvested locally (in food, clothing, schooling, roads, health care facilities \u0026amp; equipment). Vidal Rancho Bonito Washed, ORG","description":"La Tribu is a network of cooperatives formed to unify disparate coffee communities across the Sierra Madre de Chiapas, in and around the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve. Most members are smallholder families cultivating Bourbon, Typica, and Caturra on 1–3 hectare plots under shade, often with organic practices. The group organized to gain bargaining power, professionalize quality, and move coffee with a collective voice in a region where distance, poverty, and limited infrastructure have historically kept producers reliant on intermediaries.\n\nLa Tribu’s young, collaborative leadership coordinates lot separation, centralized QC, financing, and export services. Members manage their own processing while the cooperative aggregates coffees by community, variety, or altitude to meet target profiles. This system keeps community identity intact while providing access to liquidity, technical assistance, and professional marketing.\n\nEnvironmental stewardship is also central: members practice water conservation through filtration pits, live barriers, mulching, and terracing. By combining these efforts with shared micro-beneficios and mutual-aid traditions, La Tribu leverages social capital to meet specialty standards despite structural challenges like credit scarcity and road access.\n\nWith Crop to Cup, the relationship is iterative—cupping both community and producer-separated lots, contracting forward year after year, and working with lenders to fund operations and traceability. The goal is to improve resilience through cup quality, enabling farmers to hold parchment longer, resist coyote pressure, and sustain dignified livelihoods in this distant, biodiverse corridor of the Mexican landscape.","brand":"Showroom Coffee","offers":[{"title":"2 lb $20.78 ($10.39\/lb)","offer_id":46063291498556,"sku":"INV04332-2","price":20.78,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"10 lb $95.50 ($9.55\/lb)","offer_id":46063291531324,"sku":"INV04332-10","price":95.5,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"33 lb $290.73 ($8.81\/lb)","offer_id":46063291564092,"sku":"INV04332-33","price":290.73,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true},{"title":"66 lb $551.76 ($8.36\/lb)","offer_id":46063291596860,"sku":"INV04332-66","price":551.76,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"Full Bag (152.11lbs) $1169.73 ($7.69\/lb)","offer_id":46063291629628,"sku":"INV04332-full","price":1169.73,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0719\/5253\/1516\/files\/La-Tribu-Luis-A.-Vidal-Rancho-Bonito-Washed.png?v=1785165007"},{"product_id":"getachew-zeleke-shakiso-outgrowers-washed-g2-org","title":"Getachew Zeleke, Shakiso Outgrowers, Washed, G2, ORG","description":"Before he became one of Guji’s most precise producers, Getachew Zekele was an accountant — a literal bean counter. By 2009 he was harvesting his own crop, collecting cherry from neighbors, and selling through the ECX.\n\nIn 2016 he formalized Dimtu PLC, pairing his own farm (Tero Farm) with a washing station and later a dry mill to oversee quality from cherry to export. What distinguishes Dimtu from most private washing stations is the structure of its outgrower program. Rather than simply purchasing cherry, Getachew’s team registers and maps every contributing farm, trains each producer in agronomy and processing, and maintains meticulous records through a dedicated outgrower engagement office. Participating farmers receive pre-harvest financing, seedlings, and improved access to materials — and are rewarded with premiums tied directly to quality.","brand":"Showroom Coffee","offers":[{"title":"2 lb $19.46 ($9.73\/lb)","offer_id":67641023660092,"sku":"INV04331-2","price":19.46,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"10 lb $88.90 ($8.89\/lb)","offer_id":67641023692860,"sku":"INV04331-10","price":88.9,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"33 lb $268.95 ($8.15\/lb)","offer_id":67641023725628,"sku":"INV04331-33","price":268.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"66 lb $508.20 ($7.70\/lb)","offer_id":67641023758396,"sku":"INV04331-66","price":508.2,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false},{"title":"Full Bag (132.28lbs) $929.93 ($7.03\/lb)","offer_id":67641023791164,"sku":"INV04331-full","price":929.93,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0719\/5253\/1516\/files\/Getachew-Zeleke-Shakiso-Outgrowers-Washed-G2-ORG.png?v=1785165027"},{"product_id":"alo-coffee-bona-zuria-site-outgrowers-washed-g1","title":"Alo Coffee, Bona Zuria Site Outgrowers, Washed, G1","description":"Alo Coffee was founded by Tamiru Tadesse in 2020 to focus on the production and export of high-quality and competition coffees from Bensa, Sidama.
